Big WoW 2010
What is the Big WoW?The Big WoW is London’s celebration of the WoW scheme and Walk to School
month. You can use it to trial Living Streets’ WoW (Walk once a Week) scheme in your school, which runs for the whole academic year, or to kickstart WoW if you are already taking part.
The Big WoW 2010
Last year over 20,000 pupils across London took part in the Big WoW. This year will be even bigger with all 33 London boroughs taking part in a mass walking relay.
This year the Big WoW 2010 celebrates London 2012 with schools across London will be walking over three weeks in a mass relay event. A baton will travel through each borough and schools are encouraged to take part in walking it through to the next stage. It’s one of the biggest walking relay events in London – and will travel anticlockwise from Havering, through every borough and end at Greenwich! All ages are invited to take part and walk for London.
Lesson plans
Don’t worry if you can’t make your borough walking event. Classroom Lesson Plans have been designed as part of the Big WoW. Lesson plans will explore the Olympic and Paralympics Games with ideas on how you and your school can be part of the London Games. These lesson plans are also designed to support and compliment the resources that are available through Get Set - the official London 2012 education programme www.london2012.com/getset.
