Students walk Tower Bridge!

Two proud pupils with tower bridge badges
On Wednesday (25 March 09), students from year 3 class at Tower Bridge Primary learnt all about road safety and received their Tower Bridge WoW badges as they walked across the famous bridge.
The afternoon, organised by Southwark Council’s transport team, was run to highlight the ‘Walk on Wednesdays’ scheme, which is part of Living Streets National Walk to School campaign. The WoW scheme is designed to promote the benefits of walking to school, and pupils who walk once a week for the whole month are rewarded with a collectible badge. Every year we hold a UK wide competition to get our designs for the badges, and this year, Tower Bridge featured in a badge design in the theme of 'Landmarks'.

Tony Armstrong, Chief Executive of Living Streets said:

“Walking to school is one of the best ways to get everyday activity into families’ lives, improving our health and also making sure we’re not contributing to unnecessary pollution and congestion. It’s also a great way to spend real quality time with your children. These fantastic WoW badges are a great incentive and I hope school children across London will be walking at least once a week so that they can gain their Tower Bridge badge and wear it with pride!”
