Using the Walk Your Way theme
Bring the 'Walk Your Way' theme to life with our suggested activities for schools and parents.
Press Release template
Local Authorities can use our press release to get the word out about what they're doing for the Week.
Key Stage 1 lesson plans
Our first KS1 lesson plans look at navigational skills through games and role play. The second lesson plan involves children creating 3D map of their walk to school. Lesson plans can be used at any time in the year, not just during Walk to School Week. Lessons are designed to last around 1 hour.
Key Stage 2 lesson plans
Our first KS2 lesson plans looks at navigational skills, introducing children to signs, landmarks, maps and directions. The second lesson 2 revolves around mapping skills where children create a grid based map and compare urban and rural schools. Lessons are designed to last around 1 hour.
Activity session
We've also put together an Activity session with accompanying presentation. This is involves a question and answer card game, A walking story, short presentation. It can be run in sections or altogether. The Activity session is designed to last approximately 1 hour.
