Why 'WoW'?

Bromley 'WoW' pupils

• WoW is a fun scheme which is enjoyed by pupils, teachers and pupils.
• WoW is an effective scheme which ensures that walking to and from school is promoted on a regular basis throughout the entire school year.
• Wow is a scheme that works! Evaluations to date show a significant increase in the number of children walking to school at least once a week.

What is more “WoW” is not restricted to the school journey. The scheme may also appeal local businesses who are keen to promote walking as an attractive choice of travel to their employees.

Email: walktoschool@livingstreets.org.uk for more details on the scheme.

‘WoW’ is a brand of Living Streets and Transport for London and was launched nationally in January 2005, after a London pilot. The scheme has been based on two walk to school programs, which are already operating successfully in the London Borough of Richmond and South Gloucestershire.

Endorsement of Similar Schemes

WoW is the largest regular walk to school reward scheme in the world with over 200,000 pupils taking part every month. The scheme has been proven again and again to increase the number of children walking to school regularly.

There are a number of other similar schemes across the UK which are run independently of the Walk to School campaign. While we welcome any scheme which encourages regular walking to school, the campaign only endorses WoW, using the official Strider shaped WoW badges.
